CEO Notes: Decline in Intercountry Adoption

Intercountry adoptions are declining:

As some of you have likely seen, the U.S. Department of State issued their 2013 Annual Report on Intercountry Adoption. It is disappointing to see that intercountry adoptions have continued to decline since 2004, in spite of knowing there are millions of orphans in need of a family. I encourage you to contact your members of Congress (House Representative and both Senators) to encourage them to be co-sponsors of the Children in Families First (CHIFF) legislation.

Child Sponsorship:

Have you ever considered sponsoring a child? Our agency seeks to promote family permanency by sponsoring children in many countries. We currently have a need for children in Haiti to be sponsored. Click here to learn more about our sponsorship program.

Upcoming travel:

Please also be praying for families that are traveling this week and next to meet their children. I would appreciate any prayers on my behalf as I’ll be in both China and Ethiopia within the next few weeks. I’m looking forward to connecting with our overseas staff, ministry partners, and with foreign adoption officials. I look forward to updating on the blog when I’m back from my trips.
