CEO Note
As summer winds down and children begin to get ready for a new school year, my thoughts turn toward what God wants to do this next season. While America World remains busy helping families with international adoption, we are also exploring new ways to serve orphans in the US and worldwide. Our current focus has been the development of an international orphan hosting program, which I blogged about earlier this month. I am amazed at the response we have already received from people around the US who have a desire to participate in this new program. Many have shared about orphan care ministries being established within their churches. It is exciting to see people step out in faith and follow God’s call to serve orphans unto the ends of the earth.
For those of you who are just learning about the need and are uncertain about your role in caring for the fatherless, I encourage you to take a moment and ask God how He wants you to help. For those who live in Maryland and have a desire to adopt an older child, prayerfully consider the opportunity to join our pilot hosting program. For more information about the program, please contact hosting director, Mary Noble (mary.noble@awaa.org or 1-800-429-3369 ext. 134). As I close this post, let our hearts and minds meditate on these words from Jesus, “And whoever welcomes a little child like this in my name welcomes me†(Matthew 18:5).
