CEO Blog

Since returning back from China last week, I’ve been busy working with our staff on projects to help promote adoption of the waiting children in China.  I visited an orphanage where there are older children and children with minor special needs available for adoption.  This process is much faster than the traditional China process and I know from personal experience and from talking to many adoptive parents that this can be an incredible way to build a family.  Many of the parents I’ve talked to share the experience that my wife and I had:  as we got more information about special needs our misconceptions were diminished and our confidence increased.  If you want more information – but don’t want to make a commitment – feel free to simply call and talk with one of the staff in our China Program.

We’ve spent time this week in training, including adoption related social services and ways in which we as an agency can provide excellent customer service to our adoptive families.  We love feedback on our work so if you have suggestions for us on how we can serve our families better, please email service@awaa.org.

I know there are families traveling in Ethiopia, China, Rwanda & Ukraine this week.  We’re praying for your trips and your bonding with your children.  We look forward to hearing from you and seeing your pictures when you’re back.

As a reminder to families – our office will be closed on Monday, May 31st in recognition of Memorial Day.  We’ll look forward to serving you again on Tuesday morning.
