Description
Human beings are social-emotional beings with an innate need to connect and form meaningful relationships. Every interpersonal skill that is required to be successful in creating and sustaining these relationships must be acquired. Trauma, neglect and multiple disruptions in attachment relationships have significant negative impact on a child’s ability to learn these vital interpersonal skills. In fact, many children with histories of trauma develop defensive strategies to avoid interpersonal relationships. Allison Davis Maxon, LMFT, trainer for the Kinship Center in California, will explore the complex emotional and behavioral problems that traumatized children struggle to overcome. Participants will learn how to create, facilitate and sustain the relationships children and teens need to feel connected and whole, including the “10 things your child needs every day to feel valued, connected and empowered.â€

(LIVE) Thurs, March 19, 2015 @ 1:00pm-2:30pm Eastern
