Family Story: A Sweet Reunion

We have the privilege of seeing God at work in countless ways as each family’s adoption story unfolds.  Today we’d like to share about two America World families, Kevin & Holly Seay and Todd & Becky Bearden, who adopted their children through the China Waiting Child Program in 2017 and now share a connection that started in an orphanage in China.

Becky shares,

“Our daughter, Grace, and her friend, Jonathan, were in the same orphanage in China (and then foster home) for the first four years of their lives.  They were adopted at the same time, in November of 2017, and had not seen each other since then, except in Christmas cards, since we live in the Southeast and Jonathan lives in the Southwest.”

“In July of 2019, we were able to briefly visit Jonathan while on a vacation, and what a sweet reunion it was!  They were both a little nervous at first (Grace even circled him slowly, like a cat, while they just stared at each other!) but soon it was like no time had passed.”

“What a blessing that God brought them both together again, and we look forward to our families staying in touch.”

America World has been blessed to assist many families in adopting children from all over the world.

We would be honored to share your adoption story and photos of your family on our blog.  Any family is welcome to share their adoption story, whether you are home with your child or currently in your adoption process. We are continually amazed and encouraged to hear how God has provided a unique testimony and experience for each family. Families interested in submitting their story, photos and blog link can email waitingchildren@awaa.org
