Be A Storyteller for Aimee
UPDATE – 1:30 PM 3/17/15:
We just received word that Aimee has been removed from the shared list, which likely means she has been matched with a family. We will be highlighting a couple others like Aimee who have been waiting quite some time. Please advocate for them and help get them into the loving families God has planned for them. Thank you all!
Aimee has been on our Waiting Child list for awhile and we want to make an extra effort to help her find her forever family. She is an extroverted, smiley 7-year, 4-month old girl who enjoys school and playing with her friends. At 3 years and 8 months, she started going to kindergarten, loved to run and play, could dress herself, and could tie her shoes by herself.
Her referral indicates that she may have some language delays, but she can speak and knows what her caretakers are saying to her. She can go up and down stairs alone, jump, run, skip, and play. Aimee was born with a congenital heart defect (ASD) and club foot, although her file notes that she can run, jump, and play. She had a heart surgery performed on 8/19/2010 to repair her ASD. Her referral mentions a diagnosis of a “swelling of arachnoid membrane,†which is a membrane in the brain. No follow-up testing has been done, so any family reviewing her file would need to follow-up with a doctor to understand the extent of this diagnosis.
She is designated by the CCCWA as a Special Focus child and is from the shared list. A family at any stage in the process is eligible to review her file. Please contact our China staff at WaitingChildren@awaa.org or 800-429-3369 to talk more about Aimee and how to proceed in adopting her into your family.
