Back to School
It's the first day of school here in Northern Virginia, and one staffer/mom shared a great devotional this morning for our daily prayer time, along with a testimony of how difficult it was to send her son to middle school. Here is a portion of the devotional, from Jesus Calling:
“Entrust your loved ones to me; releases them into My protective care. They are much safer with Me than in your clinging hands. If you let a loved one become an idol in your heart, you endanger that loved one–as well as yourself. Remember the extreme measures I used with Abraham and Isaac. I took Isaac to the very point of death to free Abraham from his son-worship. Both Abraham and Isaac suffered terribly because of the father's undisciplined emotions. I detest idolatry, even in the form of parental love.
The Lord replied, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” Exodus 33:14
Today may be the first day of school for your kids- or your heart may be longing for a child you haven't met yet. We are in prayer for each of you as you reach new milestones like the first day of school. Parents who are in the midst of a long wait are also in our thoughts, and we pray that you will trust God as He leads you through each step of the adoption journey.
