AWAA Meets with Ethiopia Officials

On Wednesday evening, America World had the honor to host an evening to celebrate Ethiopian Adoption and the many years of the amazing inter-country adoption partnership between Ethiopia and the U.S. We were joined by the State Minister of MOWCYA, a Director of Children’s Issues at MOWCYA, the Deputy Attorney General, the Charge D’Affairs of the Ethiopian Embassy in DC, America World staff,  and some wonderful families that have adopted from Ethiopia and are in-process to adopt. 

We were incredibly encouraged by the night spent together, we shared a traditional Ethiopian dinner together followed by a coffee ceremony. The high-level government officials from Ethiopia got to visit with children that have been adopted from their country, they got to see the positive impact adoption has had on their lives, that they are happy, healthy and thriving in their permanent homes. The Officials shared, at the end of the night, how touched they were to see the children doing so well here. It was clear to see that their time with the children and families was impactful and that God’s blessed this event. 

With all the uncertainty in Ethiopia, it is our sincere hope that this time spent together will leave a lasting mark on those making decisions on behalf of children in Ethiopia. We know that the Lord has a plan for Ethiopia, for the children there and the families in-process who are hoping to bring children home from that beautiful country.
