August China Program Update- CCAA Processes Referrals

The CCAA announced today that they have processed referrals for families with Log in Dates (LID)  through May 15, 2006.  America World’s next referral group anticipating their referral have a Log in Date of May 16, 2006 (Group 262) and May 18, 2006 (Group 263); therefore, we will not receive referrals this month as the CCAA did not process enough LID’s to reach our next group.

We would anticipate that our May 16, 2006 LID group will most likely receive a referral in September.  Based on this month’s matching, the CCAA processed 5 Log in Dates for the month of August.  Please note that agencies are not given information on when referrals will arrive or which LID groups will be matched. America World will continue to provide you with updated information as it becomes available from the CCAA.

Wait Time

In the upcoming weeks, we will be sending out an update to all China program families with information on some positive aspects that we have observed in comparing referrals from 2009 with referrals in 2010.  Based upon this last referral group, the current wait time for a referral is 52 months for all families at all agencies,  with a trend of increasing each month. The wait time is calculated from the Log in Date to the day of the referral call.

Dossier Review

The CCAA has confirmed that they have completed the review of dossiers that were registered with their office before July 31, 2009. This means that families who were LID through July 31, 2009 have had their dossier paperwork reviewed. The CCAA completed 3 months of dossier review from the previous dossier view update posted in March. The timeframe for the dossier review process will vary as it is based upon the number of dossiers that are logged in during the particular month(s) that is(are) currently under review.

Chinese Expedites
As the wait time has increased for the China program, the wait time for Chinese expedited cases has also increased. Though the CCAA does not guarantee an exact timeline for an expedited referral for Chinese heritage families, Chinese heritage families should anticipate a wait time that may be approximately 6-10 months shorter than the average wait time.

Overview of Options While you Wait

Concurrent Family Building
Any family interested in pursuing a concurrent adoption or pregnancy during the wait time, should contact their Family Coordinator for more information. There are many concurrent adoption options that are available while a family’s dossier is waiting to be matched.  Please note that a family cannot participate in a Concurrent family building plan and be a part of the China Waiting Children Program due to the expedited nature of receiving a referral through the Waiting Children Program.

Waiting Children Program
America World’s Waiting Children program is also an excellent option for families who are interested in an older child who is healthy, or a baby/toddler/older boy or girl with a medical need, a developmental/growth delay, or a repaired medical need. Families who are interested in learning more about this exciting program and the children that are currently available, should contact their Family Coordinator for more information.
