Missions Update: Making a difference when travel isn’t an option

Just like so many others who have had to delay or cancel plans this summer, our missions’ department has felt the disappointment of not being able to send teams to visit our friends all over the world. But that hasn’t stopped some of our dedicated volunteers from helping and supporting our friends at Bete Hosanna in Ethiopia. Team leader Gretchen Fricke planned to lead a team of returning volunteers back to Ethiopia this summer. As a part of their yearly trip, Gretchen’s team has always held an online fundraiser to help raise support for her team members and to help provide for some of the tangible needs for the girls at Bete Hosanna. Although Gretchen and her team won’t be able to physically travel to Ethiopia this summer they are still holding an on-line auction with the sole purpose of raising funds to help support the ministry and work of our home in Ethiopia.

Friends – we are having an online auction to benefit the work being done at Bete Hosanna in Ethiopia. This is AWAA’s home for young girls who age out of the government run orphanage. When young people age out, they face a dire future. They have no money, no social support, no family, no education and no trade to fall back on. While living in Bete Hosanna, they learn a trade, have a safe place to live while saving money to start their life and create a support system for their future. We have close to 200 items in the auction – a variety of yummy, fun, quirky and practical items. Oh, and LOTS of Lou Malnati pizzas….we cleaned out the stash in our freezer. 🙂
