America World Happenings

Fall is
here! Those of us with school-aged kids have already forgotten the lazy
day of summer because we’re busy bustling kids to school, sports practices,
youth group, appointments, etc. It can be easy to get into a busy routine
that prioritizes homework over devotionals, or extra-curricular activities more
than family time. God has blessed us with the gift of His children and my
encouragement to you is to take a moment this weekend to slow down and enjoy
the wonderful gift of children.

Many of you will
have seen on our blog that we are partnering with Just Love Coffee to create our own AWAA
hand-roasted, artisan blend of Ethiopian coffee. We named it 8:15 blend –
the name referring to Romans 8:15, “For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back
into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, â€˜Abba! Father!’â€.  J
ust Love Coffee donates the proceeds to
AWAA for every bag sold. Just Love Coffee is owned and run by an AWAA
adoptive dad who has used his company to support many humanitarian projects in
Ethiopia and other African countries. The coffee is conveniently shipped
to your home or office – give it a try by signing up
here

If you’re at the
Together For
Adoption conference
in Louisville, please stop by our agency’s booth for a
free sample of our 8:15 blend coffee. We are proud to be participating in
this conference, and our staff attending the conference report a great lineup
of breakout sessions, speakers, and others to fellowship with and learn from.

Our agency is
joining with the National Council For
Adoption
and many other advocacy groups and adoption agencies to help
promote the Children in Families First (CHIFF) legislation currently before
Congress. You can learn more about this legislation here. We are
encouraging families to call their members of Congress and asking them to
co-sponsor this legislation.

You may have
already seen that we are partnering with Show
Hope
to help promote Steven
Curtis Chapman’s new tour
“The Glorious Unfoldingâ€. Have you checked
to see if they’re coming to your area? You can volunteer at our booth or
just go and enjoy a great night of Christian music.
