Advocate Today: 12-Year Old “Christine”
12-year old Christine is a spunky girl that has Down syndrome and a postoperative heart defect. She received surgery for heart October 2005 and recovered well. She is very outgoing, and attends school. Christine also attends an occupations training center.
She likes dancing, and is excellent in the music lessons. She also enjoys reading. She can manage her bed, brush her teeth and wash her face. Christine likes new clothes, can dress herself and go to toilet alone.
Her file notes,
“I would like to be adopted, I want to have my dad and mom. I can dance, like reading books, can clean the table, can help mom clean the floor, can dance to show my mom, and also can sing in Chinese.”
She has expressed to the orphanage staff that she really wants them to find her a mom and dad. She turns 13 years old in November so we are praying that she can celebrate her 13th birthday with her new family.
Christine is from an America World partnership orphanage and is on the CCCWA's shared list. She is a Special Focus child, which means a family at any stage of the process can adopt her.
Current America World families who are interested in welcoming Christine into their family should contact their Family Coordinator about him.
Families who are not currently in the process of adopting with America World should fill out a free PRE-APPLICATION and our Intake staff will follow up with you right away.
