Advocate Today: 12-Year Old “Christine”
“Christine” was added to the China Waiting Child list in March. She is a spunky girl with Down syndrome and a postoperative heart defect. She received surgery for heart October 2005 and recovered well.
She can walk alone, is very outgoing, and attends school. She likes dancing, is excellent in the music lessons. She enjoys reading. She can get up and make her bed, can brush her teeth and wash her face, likes new clothes, can dress herself, can go to the restroom alone.

“I would like to be adopted, I want to have my dad and mom. I can dance, like reading books, can clean the table, can help mom clean the floor, can dance to show my mom, and also can sing in Chinese.”
“Christine” has expressed to the orphanage staff that she really wants them to find her a mom and dad. She attends an occupations training center.
“Christine” is from an America World partnership orphanage and is on the CCCWA's shared list. She is a Special Focus child, which means a family at any stage of the process can adopt her.
