Advocacy Spotlight: Meet Colson

Advocacy Spotlight: Meet Colson

Colson is a cute little boy who is described as active and always has a smile. He loves picture books and playing outside. His favorite item to play with is a toy phone. He enjoys being around others and likes being where activity is going on. At the time his file was prepared, he was 10 months old and it was noted at that time he was able to roll over, sit steadily, and was developing fine motor skills. He locates the direction of sounds, knows his name, responds to others asking for objects, and can respond to adults’ facial expressions. Colson enjoys playing with other children and enjoys bath time.

Colson has been diagnosed with moderate failure to thrive, growth delays, microcephalus, post operative esophageal atresia & fistula, CHD (VSD), pulmonary hypertension, malnutrition and thrombocythemia.   During the first year of his life he had several hospital stays for illnesses, but his file is unclear as to whether all of the illnesses and conditions for which he was seen, were all resolved. We are hopeful that more information can be provided in an update to confirm.
Little Colson lives in a foster family and is an agency orphanage partnership file. Colson’s file is designated as a special focus referral and a family at any stage of adoption is eligible to consider his adoption. That means even families who are just thinking about adoption can inquire! Please contact our China staff by emailing china@awaa.org
