Michael Ketterer’s dreams are becoming a reality after receiving the “golden buzzer” on America’s Got Talent this Tuesday. Michael and his wife, Ivey, are the parents of 6 children. Five of those children were adopted from the foster care system.
Michael stated on the show,
“You know, one of the things that happens, especially because my children came out of foster care, when you’re surviving, you can’t dream. And that has been one of the most rewarding things is providing them with a home and safe environment where they are free to dream, and so I’m here because I want to show them that if their dad can live out his dreams then nothing is impossible for them.“
Michael Ketterer is a part-time worship leader at his church in California, where he and his wife moved from Knoxville, TN. He is also a part-time pediatric mental health nurse at Children’s Hospital of Orange County.
The golden buzzer means that Michael automatically advances to the live shows where he will continue to compete for the top spot.
After the big moment, Michael tweeted:
“I’m so thankful for all of the support and love that I’m receiving from my family, friends, and people that I’ve never met before! My family and I are undone and are so thankful to God for this amazing opportunity. Thank you @SimonCowell for hitting that button!”
