Adoptions & A Wedding: Two Family’s Stories Collide
The following story (a VERY cool one!) was submitted by Lyn Briscoe, and America World mom and Home Study Coordinator, about how God not only connected their family through adoption but how adoption made additional family connections!
“I met Shauna when she was an AWANA leader for my bio daughters, but I didn’t know her well and had no idea that she and her husband were interested in adoption. Not long after we came home from China with our second adopted child, she called and told me that she and her husband had just sent an application to America World and wondered if we could get together and talk about our adoption experience. That was the beginning of a sweet friendship! One year later they brought home their Chinese daughter, and we got to watch God do miraculous things for their family.
In March 2013 we brought home our third Chinese child and two months later Shauna’s family adopted two boys from China. I had experienced the close bonds that form as a result of an adoption, and I was very thankful to have someone local to share this bond with.
Our families continued to get to know one another. Shauna’s family joined our homeschool group, and eventually, her two bio sons worked at the summer camp where my husband is the director. It was there that my oldest daughter, Robin, and Shauna’s oldest son, Taylor, got to know each other better.”
“Last month, Taylor and Robin got married! What a blessing to see all of our kids participating in the wedding and to be joined to this precious family through the marriage of our children.”
Congratulations to all!
