Adopting a Child with Down Syndrome

America World has seen more children with Down syndrome becoming available for adoption over the past year—especially in our China and India programs. Bringing awareness to families who would consider adopting a child with Down syndrome has helped America World place many children recently.

Down syndrome is the most commonly occurring chromosomal condition. Approximately one in every 700 babies in the United States is born with Down syndrome – about 6,000 each year.
