Uganda July Trip:

America World Adoption has partnered with several different ministries located in Uganda. By joining us this July, you will not only get to serve alongside the wonderful people at Canaan’s Children’s Home, Serving His Children, Sixty Feet, Pillars of Hope, and others, but will also have the chance to visit the slums, participate in some light construction, and host Bible studies with Uganda’s children and youth.

We believe that you will not only bless these people, but that you will walk away encouraged in your own faith. Won’t you consider standing with these communities, empowering them, strengthening them, and sharing the sweet hope of Jesus with them?

They are waiting for someone to come and tell them the story of Jesus. Who better than you? Join us this July in Uganda and live out the story of a lifetime!

Ghana Trip:

Hear from one of our incredible ACT Team Leaders, Casey Milleson, and consider joining us this June in the beautiful country of Ghana:

As you've probably gathered by now, I'll be leading a team to Ghana this summer to care for orphans. I couldn't be more excited. I am actively recruiting people from all over the US to go with us…so if you're interested, COME ON!!

We need at least 10-12 people to go. Are you one of them?

We're still planning the trip, but have a general idea of what we'll be doing…Here goes:

Background
The trip is through America World Adoption Agency & the purpose is to care for orphans. We will also be creating relationships that AWAA can use in the future for future teams as well as for adoptions when Ghanaian adoptions are re-opened. So, we'll literally be paving the way for families to adopt the precious kids we're loving on! That in & of itself is so exciting!

Where Are We Going?
We're heading to Accra, the capital of Ghana. It's a safe place, filled with happy, joyous Ghanaians. It's a bustling city center, filled with markets, businesses and cars galore. We'll be going during the rainy season, which is like winter to them, but it will still be 70-90 degrees!

Ghana is an incredible country that has a host of valuable resources including petroleum and natural gas. Ghana is one of the world's largest gold and diamond producers, the second largest cocoa producer and his home to Lake Volta, the largest artificial lake in the world. (Who knows what an artificial lake is? Not me.) Christianity is the primary religion and 95% of the children are in school. This is one of the highest enrollment rates in all of Africa.

So, you may wonder why we'd even go to Ghana. They're booming economically compared to other African nations, the majority of people are Christian and almost all of the children are in school. The most glaring statistic is that with all of the country's success, there are still 1 million orphaned children in Ghana alone. One million. That is lower than other countries in Africa, but it is higher than what I can accept.

Therefore, we're going to do something about it. First, we're going to care for orphans in the most basic sense. We will hug them, kiss them, change diapers, wash clothes, and prepare food for them. But we will also be working on some projects that will make a visible lasting impact. Love is long lasting…but so is food. We'll be working to meet both physical and spiritual needs while we are there.

What Are We Doing?
Good question. We're still ironing out some of the details, but we will be working with 1-2 orphanages while we are there. One of them has a lot of land and wants help setting up irrigation for their farm in order to provide food for their children long term. There's also an opportunity to work with single moms in a remote fishing village…this excites me because it would be helping to prevent children being orphaned due to families not being able to provide for them.

We'll have many more details soon…but the main thing we'll do is love children who are orphaned and at risk for being orphaned. No matter what programs we end up working on, we will be fulfilling God's call for us to care for orphans…and that is always reassuring when God backs you up! 🙂

Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world. -James 1:27

Who can go?
Anyone that loves Jesus! But honestly, pretty much anyone can go…single adults, married adults, teens (ages 15 & up) without parents, entire families, old people, young people. You most likely fit the requirement unless you are less than 5 years old.

Families can bring their kids (ages 5 & up), which is so cool! Having kids minister to kids is such an incredible thing…and allowing your entire family to see another part of the world together is powerful.
