10 Weeks. 10 Stories. A Whole Lot of Hope. – Week 1
As we approach the end of 2014, we would like to share a few stories of how God has worked through America World Adoption to impact the lives of children around the world. Below is the first of 10 stories to come over the next 10 weeks. It comes from Aimee and Tim Wilson who spent this past year ministering to the children of Haiti. During their time serving alongside of America World, Aimee and Tim were instrumental in launching a food pantry to meet basic nutritional needs of children living in orphanages around Port-au-Prince.

From Haiti, With Love.
Tim & Aimee Wilson
Earlier this year, AWAA learned of a very specific and urgent need to help children who had recently been without food for 4 days. As we looked into the need, we unfortunately learned that this is not an isolated issue and that orphanages all around Port-au-Prince are in need of basic supplies and resources on a daily basis.
We knew that there was something more we could do once we had helped meet the immediate need for food at a particular orphanage in Port-au-Prince. Soon AWAA launched the Haiti Food Pantry Fund to help provide food support to orphanages in need. With a simple request, we soon had the AWAA community asking how they could help. To date, we have raised over $13,000 for the Haiti Food Pantry Fund.
The response was incredible! We hoped that we would be able to meet needs as we heard about them and address crisis situations in order that the orphanage might be able to create a long-term plan. Because of such and overwhelming response, we raised the funds to be able to respond quickly in these crisis situtions. But even more than that, we received more than enough to be able to provide on-going support to many hungry children. Hundreds of meals have been distrubuted to children throughout Port-au-Prince.
The original orphanage has stabalized and a long-term plan is being developed to ensure that the children's basic needs are met. At least 5 orphanages in difficult financial situations have received fruit, rice, beans, fish, vegetables, eggs, and charcoal among other necessities.
As you may know the Chikungunya virus swept across Haiti this year leaving many people sick and facing additional challenges. We have provided water, fruit, juice and Tylenol to a partner orphange where many children and their caregivers were struggling with on-going fevers and aches of the virus.
Many children's lives continue to be greatly impacted by the support raised through this project and we are beyond thankful for the opportunity to expand our ability to help more children in Haiti and to share the love of Christ in a very tangible way.
Be A Part of The Story
We invite you to consider becoming a part of the story. Whether it is through sponsoring a child in Honduras, adopting a little one from China, welcoming an orphaned youth from Ukraine into your home for the holiday's, or joining us on a missions trip overseas to visit these precious kiddos, we believe that you can make a difference. Or maybe just be a part of the story and end 2014 with a whole lot of hope, by giving to our Isaiah 1:17 Fund.
