After the Ministry of Social Protection processes and approves an adoptive family’s dossier, families are extended an invitation to travel to Kyrgyzstan to have a bonding trip with a child in an orphanage. The bonding trip will include 10 days of bonding with a particular child, after which point the Ministry will evaluate the family’s and child’s connection and determine if they will proceed forward with the adoption process. The second trip to Kyrgyzstan only requires one parent to travel, and is for the Court process. Typically, this trip is relatively short, lasting just a few days. The final trip will take 7-10 days, and requires that families process the child’s U.S. visa in neighboring Kazakhstan.
